Ease into 2019 with happiness, meaning and purpose with our top tips for strategies that Researchers have identified to improve levels of happiness:
Count your blessings. Express gratitude for what you have.
Cultivate optimism. Practice looking on the bright side of every situation.
Avoid over-thinking and social comparison. Use strategies (like distraction) to cut down on how often your dwell on your problem and compare yourself to others.
Practice acts of kindness. Do good things for others, either directly or anonymously, either spontaneously or planned.
Do more activities that truly engage you. Increase the number of experiences at home and at work in which you ‘lose’ yourself, which are challenging and absorbing.
Replay and savour life’s joys.
Commit to your goals. Pick 1, 2 or 3 significant goals that are meaningful to you and devote time and effort to pursuing them.
Develop strategies for coping. Practice ways to endure or overcome stress.
Learn to forgive.
Take care of your mind and body. Engage in physical activity and eat a healthy diet, meditate, smile and laugh.
